Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Review

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

I always hear people talk about Estee Lauder Double Wear being the best foundation in terms of coverage and longevity, and although I don’t prefer my foundation to be full coverage, I am forever on the hunt for a foundation that will stay un-budged on my face the whole day. Naturally Estee Lauder Double Wear Light,  a lighter alternative to Estee Lauder Double Wear, seems a better fit for me. Recently I also saw Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup mentioned it in her January Favourites, which got me even more interested.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is a medium coverage foundation that does a really great job at covering redness, blemishes, pores and uneven skintone, without that heavy, cakey feeling of a full coverage foundation. The consistency of the Double Wear Light, when you squeeze it out of the tube, is quite thick and, similar to the Double Wear, you do have to work pretty quickly before the foundation sets. I find it easier to first use my fingers to roughly spread and blend the foundation all over my face, and then go back in with a buffing brush to blend out any rough edges.

The finish of Double Wear Light on me, as someone with normal to dry skin, is a natural matte. Double Wear Light has a high powder content (although not as high as Double Wear), which makes it last longer on the skin. I would say Double Wear Light works well on most skin types, but those with oily skin will likely have a nicer, more natural finish, whereas someone with dry to very dry skin will find this a little bit too matte or too drying. As for me, because my skin is more on the dry side, I find the finish of Double Wear Light too bland and uninteresting; it doesn’t give my skin that wow factor, it doesn’t allow any luminosity to come through, so my skin ends up looking a bit flat. For me, this is a foundation that gives great coverage and lasts a long time, but it doesn’t offer anything else and quite frankly I’m not that excited to put it on my face.

What I do like about Double Wear Light though, is the packaging, which comes in a compact and travel-friendly squeeze tube, perfect to just pop into a small makeup bag. Double Wear Light is priced at £29.50 for 30ml, which is quite expensive in my opinion, and there are many other foundations that cost less, that I would definitely choose over without a second thought.

Have you tried Estee Lauder Double Wear Light? Are you a fan?

*Disclaimer* I want to add a disclaimer that after purchasing Double Wear Light, and while doing some research on Estee Lauder as a brand to write up this post, I found out that Estee Lauder still carries out tests on animals for their products sold to ‘China’. On Paulachoice.com, Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is also classified as a product that has been tested on animals. As an animal lover I strongly disagree and am disappointed with their policy. In my opinion, Estee Lauder, as a major cosmetic brand, should have the integrity to take a stance against animal cruelty and use their position to set a better example within the beatuy industry, which they clearly have not done.
