6 Current Drugstore Favourites

Spending at least an hour trawling through Boots is probably one of my favourite past time activities. There’s something about a trip to my local Boots that I can never get tired of albeit it being rather alarmingly frequent. I don’t know about you but for me there’s nothing more satisfying than finding great products that ‘work’ at a price that you don’t have to secretly cry about at night.

Anywho so today I thought I would round up 6 current favourites from my beloved drugstore.

Indeed Labs ‘Fillume’. An exciting new product this year from one of my favourite drugstore brands, Indeed Labs. I am a big fan of their Hydraluron and so when I saw that they came out with a new moisturiser at the beginning of this year I was completely intrigued. Fillume is a moisturiser that claims to restore the plumpness of your skin as well as facial contours and improve your skin’s texture and elasticity. It has 5 active key ingredients, which focus on restoring lost facial volume, making the skin look and feel plumper as well as significantly improve skin smoothness and provide immediate and long-lasting hydration. It is fragrance-free and also free of Parabens and Mineral oils.

Fillume can be used both day and night but I only use it in the morning and you only need a pea size amount. I also love the simple packaging (great for travel) and the way the product dispense (you push the whole top down to pump out the product). Overall I enjoy using this cream, it’s lightweight and not greasy and works great as a morning moisturiser.

Superfacialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Brighten Glow Boost Skin Serum. I love love love love this serum. Vitamin C, as we all know, has countless benefits to the skin and so I make sure I incorporate it to my skincare routine everyday. This Vitamin C+ Brighten Glow Boost Skin Serum pretty much does what it says on the label; it has high performance pro-collagen Vitamin C active, which gives your skin a more youthful healthy glow and smoother, retexturised skin appearance. I love using this in the morning because it has the most amazingly refreshing citrus scent that really perks you up in the morning.

Superfacialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Brightening Skin Renewal Cleansing Oil. If, like me, you are an avid user of waterproof mascara then you will be well familiar with the constant battle to remove it at the end of the day. The magic Micellar water that everyone is hyping about just does not cut it and for me the only product that is worthy of the battle is cleansing oil. I love this one by Una Brennan because I just love their Vitamin C+ range, it smells as good as the serum, feels soft and lovely to massage on the skin, and it does remove all traces of my waterproof mascara. I also love the fact that there’s an add on benefit of vitamin C so it also doubles up as a skincare.

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This was probably one of the first primers I bought when I started getting into makeup and I’m still loving it. The formula sits right in the middle between Laura Mercier’s foundation primer and Benefit Porefessional Primer; it feels very hydrating like the Laura Mercier’s primer when you apply it but it dries into a mattifying texture like the Porefessional. I love this primer because it feels lovely and moisturising and does not dry out your skin but yet it has that lovely mattifying finish that smooth out your complexion and minimise your pores. At a drugstore price I would gladly swap this over any other high-end ones any day.

Maybeline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Eye Concealer.  There’s hardly anything I can fault about this concealer and the fact that it is from the drugstore with a drugstore price tag is even more impressive. It applies very lightweight because of the amazing sponge applicator but covers basically everything under the sun. I love love love this concealer and have been reaching for it most days over my other high end ones. It’s just an all rounder, it’s ‘great’ for under the eyes because the sponge applicator already blends the product out for you when you swipe it across your under eye areas so it doesn’t cake up or difficult to blend out like other concealers, all you need is a quick tab with your fingers for a final blend or you can use other soft synthetic brush like MAC 217 or Real Techniques Setting Brush to lightly blend. It also stays put all day and looks very natural.

Garnier Miracle Skin Cream Anti-Ageing Skin Transforming Care. When I was on a beach holiday in Thailand at the end of last year, this was all I wore everyday. It’s basically a hybrid product that sits between an anti-ageing skincare with SPF and a tinted moisturiser. It has an innovative formula with micropigments that reacts on first contact with your skin to self-adjust to your skin tone. When you first squeeze the product out of a tube it basically looks like a white cream but once you rub it on your face the micropigments are activated and turn into your natural skin colour.

I love this when I’m on a holiday when I need minimal makeup and also on weekends or on days when I only need to do basic errands or walk the dog. It instantly makes your skin looks more awakened, more luminous and even and it also contains active anti-ageing ingredients and SPF20 as well as natural oils that help to combat the appearance of aging.
