How to achieve a natural looking blush

image1(2)image1(5)image1(6)I don’t know about you but a blusher is quite an integral part of my makeup routine. I feel like a flushed cheek just make your face comes alive and so more often than not I can get quite carried away and heavy handed on the blush department (I’m sure we’re all guilty of that!) The secret, as we all know, is to apply less than what we think we need and keep building up the colour because it’s easier to add than to remove. For some reasons that lesson seems to have gone straight over my head and I always always end up with a bright pink clown cheek.

Then a few weeks ago I watched Tati from GlamLifeGuru in her Five Minutes Makeup Routine video and the way she applied her blusher was like a light-bulb moment for me. She used a fan brush which, because of its shape and density, picks up less product but distribute it more widely and evenly so you will never going to end up with one big splotch across your cheek.

I’ve been adopting her method since using my Laura Mercier Fan Powder Brush that I’ve had for ages but up until now had just been sitting among my other brushes looking very lonely and unloved. I think we all seem to be owning a fan brush that we bought at some point in the past that we don’t quite remember when or why and have since found no real use for it. I’m absolutely in love with the result, a very natural looking blush that blend seamlessly and make you look like you just took a brisk walk with that coveted ‘apple-cheek’. I also have my current 3 favourite blushers to go with the look; Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in ‘Dim Light’, Mac Blush in ‘Rosy Outlook’, and Mac Mineralize Blush in ‘Dainty’.

What’s your secret at applying blush for a natural look?
