My Go-to winter lipsticks

Winter lipsticks

Winter lipstick

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that I am not a big experimenter when it comes to lipstick. I stick to what I know best, and that is anything within the perimeter of nude shades. However, once a year during the winter months, my more daring self comes out of the shell and embrace bolder colour lipsticks with more enthusiasm than at any other time of the year. I think when the weather is so grey and dull for months on end, even a neutral girl at heart like myself crave for some colours. Today I thought I would round up my 4 most used, most loved winter lipsticks, that are a bit darker, bolder than what I usually wear, and in my opinion quite perfect for this time of year.

Clinique Plum Pop

Clinique Plum Pop

The first is my most recent acquisition, which I haven’t been able to stop wearing since I bought it, and that is Clinique Pop lipstick in Plum Pop. It is a beautiful rose/warm pink shade with a slight hint of plum and has a beautiful satin finish. I love the formula of this lipstick so much I can literally go out and buy every shade if only they would all suit me. The lipstick acts as both lip colour as well as lip primer and feels incredibly hydrating and comfortable to wear, not to mention a dream to apply. What I love about Clinique Pop lipstick is that despite being so creamy, so easy to glide on like you’ve just applied a lip balm, it’s still highly pigmented and lasts for hours. I’ve also been eyeing another shade, Mocha Pop, a rather 90’s shade; brownish terracotta pink, which I’ll likely be picking up soon. (Feelunique now has an offer on these Clinique Pop lipsticks at £14 compare to RRP of £16)

Mac Mehr

My second winter lipstick  is non-other than the popular MAC Mehr, which I can confirm is popular for a reason. It is described as a dirty-blue pink (deep cool toned pink with a blue undertone) with a matte finish. Now I have to add a little disclaimer here that normally cool toned lipsticks, especially anything with blue undertone are my worse enemy. I have yellow undertone skin and anything cool toned will not suit me. But MAC Mehr probably possesses some kind of magical makeup power because it seems to suit everyone, even someone with a strong aversion to cool toned lipstick like myself. I love the deep shade of pink, which really brightens up my complexion and looks incredibly flattering on.

Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle

My third winter lipstick is Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle. This is a perfect neutral rose shade with a tinge of mauve. It has a sheer and slightly shine finish but still very pigmented and has great staying power. It also as a gorgeous subtle rose scent, and so hydrating that I don’t need to wear lip balm or lip primer underneath. Chanel Rouge Coco Mademoiselle is something I could whack on and dash out the house without having to put too much effort but still it manages to make me look very put together and polished.

Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria

My last go-to winter lipstick is also my most worn lipstick, and that is Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Very Victoria. The shade is very chic and wearable (taupe pink with brown undertone) and although it is a matte formula it’s still super comfortable to wear and very long-lasting. I know this is hardly a ‘bold’ colour but I threw it in anyway because it’s still darker than your average nude and it is very winter appropriate in my opinion!

What lipsticks have you been loving this winter?
