BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation Review

bareMinerals BarePRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation

I generally tend to steer away from a full coverage foundation because in my mind it conveys something heavy, cakey, and very detectable on the skin. But what really caught my attention recently was the launch of BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear liquid foundation, which promises to provide full coverage but with a natural finish and lightweight feel on the skin.

Here are the key features of BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear liquid foundation;

  • Full coverage
  • Soft-focus natural matte finish
  • Breathable formula
  • Oil free
  • SPF 20
  • High performance formula blurs pores & imperfections
  • Up to 24 hour wear powered by Mineral Lock long-wear technology

  • Natural bamboo stem extract provides a smooth , soft-focus finish
  • Papaya enzymes gently improve texture over time
  • Self setting finish

I have been testing out BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear foundation for a few weeks now and I have to say it has completely changed my viewpoint with regards to wearing a full coverage foundation.

First of all the texture is not at all heavy. Bareminerals BarePro Performance Wear foundation has a creamy liquid consistency (which is not too runny either), and the foundation spreads and blends very easily on the skin. I prefer using a Beauty Blender to give a more flawless, natural finish but have also tried using a brush and it has worked equally well (I also notice that using a brush gives me more coverage). I am in the shade Pecan, which matches my skin tone extremely well, and with 30 shades to choose I’m sure you will be able to find your perfect match easily.

I generally tend to steer clear from a full coverage foundation because in my mind it conveys something heavy, cakey, and very detectable on the skin. But the recent launch of BareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear liquid foundation

One pump of Bareminerals BarePro Performance Wear foundation is enough for give me a medium to high, yet natural-looking coverage. The foundation covers most of my minor blemishes without the need to use a concealer (I still use concealer for my undereyes, just because undereye concealer is something I can’t do without!).

The finish of Bareminerals BarePro Performance Wear foundation is simply beautiful, flawless and extremely natural-looking. It blurs imperfections, gives your skin a gorgeous soft-focus look, and has a soft-matte/satin finish.

I also love the fact that Bareminerals BarePro Performance Wear foundation has a self-setting finish, which means for someone with normal to dry skin like me there is no need to powder (if you have oily skin, I would suggest powdering during the day to keep everything looking fresh). Finally Bareminerals BarePro Performance Wear foundation really does have an amazing longevity and stays firmly in place all day without breaking up. Another five-star product from BareMinerals imo!

My current go-to summer bases

summer foundation

Summer is all about dewy, glowing, radiant skin, and lets face it, I’m not that lucky to have such a complexion without the need of some extra help. At the same time summer is also about letting your skin breath and keeping your skin looking like skin as much as possible. So today I am going to show you my current go-to bases for the summer months, which allow me to kill two birds with one stone i.e. giving me beautiful radiant complexion while keeping my skin looking fresh and natural at the same time.

The Body Shop All-in-One BB cream. A moisturising cream with pigment beads that burst and turn into your skin colour as you massage it on to you face. Gives light to medium coverage and surprisingly does a decent job at even out my complexion and covers minor blemishes. I love using this on days when I’m not doing anything special but still want to look decent and put together. I love that it is hydrating, looks very natural, stays fresh all day, and affordable.

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue. I absolutely ‘adore’ the cooling and hydrating formula, with a unique beautiful gel-like consistency, which is such a joy to apply especially on warm summer days. It gives a very beautiful dewy effect to the skin, and a light to medium coverage. Also gives SPF 30 PA+++ protection, which definitely comes in handy during the summer months.

Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser. If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I waffle on about this tinted moisturiser almost on a daily basis just because I love it so much and can’t get enough of it. As the name suggests, it makes your skin looks beautifully natural, like it’s ‘just your skin’ but more radiant, more polished, and basically the best version of yourself. Despite being labeled as a tinted moisturiser, it gives a decent medium coverage and has a thick but lightweight texture. I love that it makes my skin look incredible while feeling like I barely have anything on.

Summer foundation

IT Cosmetics CC Cream. This is something I gravitate to on days when I need more coverage from my foundation. It gives a very decent medium to high coverage, and an extremely beautiful ‘glow’ to the skin. Has a thick but not at all heavy texture, and a noticeable citrus scent (which I’m not such a fan of but some people seem to like it). Also has a very high SPF protection of 50+, which again is great for summer.

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau. This is a really beautiful ‘perfecting’ foundation that feels like second skin. I adore this because it feels incredibly lightweight for a foundation and does an amazing job at making my complexion appear super perfected and polished. It gives medium coverage and is a great foundation option in the summer because it’s very comfortable to wear and looks and feels undetectable on the skin.

What are your favourite bases to wear in the summer?

Current quick & easy foundation routine ft. BareMinerals Complexion Rescue

I am and have always been a massive fan of BareMinerals. I know for a fact that it has made such a huge difference to my skin and I am all for a make up brand whose main ethos is to first and foremost look after your skin. So when I saw that they came out with a new base product, I couldn’t wait to get my hand on one. Luckily my boyfriend was recently on a business trip in the US and was willing to venture out to Sephora for me (BM Complexion Rescue will only be available in the UK in April and let’s face it I couldn’t wait that long).

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue

The Conplexion Rescue is supposed to sit somewhere between a BB or CC cream and a tinted moisturiser. It’s very ligh weight and completely disappears into the skin so in a way it also feels like a moisturiser to me because once you put it on your skin instantly feels super hydrated. The Complexion Rescue is in no way a foundation and so if you are looking for a good coverage you won’t get it from this product. What it does however is improve and brighten your complexion, making it look and feel like what healthy skin is suppose to be naturally.

The consistency of this product is pretty much what you would get if you manually mix your foundation with your moisturiser. It has a texture of a gel or light moisturiser with pigment of colour in it. In terms of colour match I got mine in Ginger 06 and it matches my skin colour perfectly (FYI I’m using ‘Golden Medium’ in the Original mineral powder foundation, and ‘Bare Nude’ in the Bare Skin foundation).

As I mentioned this product does not really give you any coverage so what I’ve been doing is dusting a bit of MAC Studio Fix powder on top using my beloved Bobbi Brown Sheer Powder brush and this give me enough coverage while still retaining that healthy brightening effect from the complexion rescue.  The two products just work so well together and the finish is so lightweight and comfortable on the skin, absolutely stunning and last all day. Not to mention this routine takes no time at all so it has been my absolute go to at the moment.

Review: Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation

bare-minerals

I was on a holiday in North America last month when I first saw the new Bare Minerals foundation on a TV commercial. For someone who used to swear by the original Bare Minerals powder foundation and used it religiously every single day for 3 years straight, I literally fell off my chair. A new foundation from Bare Minerals AND in ‘liquid’ form? AND promising more benefits to your skin? How could I possibly pass this one up!

A week later when I went to New York I made it my mission to pick this baby up at Sephora. Now let me tell you all about it.

So the full name of this foundation is “bareMinerals bare skin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20”It is;

  1. Clinically proven tone-correcting mineral foundation and brightening serum.
  2. Has skin perfecting quality to deliver a noticeably brighter, more youthful appearance.
  3. Formulated without oil, silicone, parabens or fragrance.
  4. Protect your skin from both UVA and UVB with SPF 20

The consistency of this foundation is quite watery, very similar to the Chanel vitalumiere aqua and it’s also the same in the sense that you have to shake the bottle pretty well before you use it. The  instruction suggests that you use one or two drops but I find that to be way too little and I end up using about 4 drops to do my entire face. The finish of this foundation is beautiful and very very similar to the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I would say it’s a medium coverage (but definitely buildable) and a bit more on the matte side but it still allows the right amount of dewiness and glow to come through. This foundation also has an incredible lasting power and by the end of the day your skin still looks fresh without that extra shine or greasiness. I think this foundation would suit everyone, from oily skin to dry skin.

It’s also suggested that you use this foundation with the bareMinerals Perfecting Face Brush, which I also purchased. The brush has an indentation in the middle and I guess it’s supposed to be like a little pot that you can pour your foundation in. But I didn’t really get on well at all with the brush and I find it to be too dense and not that flexible. I also find that I can’t really do a circular buffing motion really well with this brush as it’s just too stiff and the indentation in the middle is a bit pointless. I also feel like because the brush is so dense, your foundation tends to disappear inside the brush and I ended up having to use much more products that necessary. So in hindsight I shouldn’t have purchased this brush at all as it’s just a completely waste of money. I now use this foundation with either the Real Technique Expert Face brush or the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush and these two brushes help me achieve a really beautiful and flawless finish.

I also want to mention quickly that quite a number of people say they have an issue with the packaging and find it hard to get the foundation out of the bottle the first time they use it. But personally I have not experienced that problem. I am able to pour out the foundation from the bottle just fine and have been using it everyday without any issues.

So all in all I would say this foundation is definitely worth looking into if you have oily, acne prone, problematic skin and want to use a foundation that gives you coverage but at the same time will benefit and heal your skin in the long run. Having said that this foundation is also great for people with normal skin too because it’s nice to have a foundation with friendly ingredients that you know is not going to harm your skin and you can wear it on days that you might want to give your skin a little break.

Will you be trying out this foundation?
