When it comes to wearing lipstick I have to admit I simply just don’t have the guts (nor the inclinations) to be that adventurous. There were times when I tried to dip in to a few bold shades but they almost always ended up either being given away or chucked to the bottom of the drawer never to be seen again. Somehow I just haven’t yet found my way around anything else but Nude lipsticks, and to be honest I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wearing ‘just’ nude lips; after all 1) it goes with practically everything so perfect for day to day or when you’re in a rush, 2) you don’t have to worry about smudging, bleeding or constantly reapplying throughout the day, and 3) because it’s designed to enhance your natural lip colour, it will suit any and every occasions.

Here are a few of my all time favourites that I literally can not be without;

1) Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Notting Hill Nude is my stable nude lipstick. It’s the perfect YLBB shade with such a moisturising formula that makes your lip looks and feel healthy and hydrated. It has both pink and peach undertone so will suit every skin types. If you want just a bit of a ‘nuder’ lip an alternative is ‘Nude Delight‘, which will take your natural lip colour to just a shade lighter. I sometimes mix the two together to create a more subtle and wearable ‘nude but not too nude’ look.

2) No.7 Precision Lips Pencil in Nude is such a versatile product. It can be use either to outline or fill the entire lip to make your lip looks fuller and your lipsticks last for much longer. The colour is yet again another perfect YLBB. This is also a Lisa Eldridge’s recommendation so need I say more?

3) Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Stick in Nudist I pair this with the No. 7 lip pencil to give my lip the extra hydration boost on the days when my lip looks a bit dry and flaky. They go together like a dream.

4) Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Isola Bella A ‘gorgeous’ peachy nude with incredible lasting power. This is a particularly lovely shade for when you have a tan but will still suit any other skin tones.

5) Nars Lipstick in Blonde Venus If lip pencils are not your thing (and I can understand why as they tend to run out quicker than regular lipsticks and for the same price!), fear not as this is a perfect alternative for the Nars Isola Bella in the form of a good old lipstick bullet. This is practically the same shade although I find that Blonde Venus is slightly lighter and slightly peachier but both shades are just as equally flattering.

6) Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo in Nude No. 5 is a beautiful ‘slightly muted out your natural lip’ nude colour. Of course being Hourglass, they nail the shade to perfection. In contrast to the infamous ‘ill-looking’ nude shade, this is a perfectly chic and sophisticated nude that is totally wearable day or night.

What are your favourite staple nude lipsticks?
