Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation Review

Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation

The bane of any beauty/makeup lovers, who live in the UK, has got to be the fact that we don’t have the mothership Sephora. I just can’t get my head around why not, but it’s beyond frustrating to see beauty bloggers from the US flaunting products from Sephora (watching Sephora Haul is kind of a double-edged sword for me) that we in the UK just can’t get our hands on that easily.

One of the beauty brands I wish is more readily available in the UK is Tarte. I know Tarte is available to order through QVC but when it comes to makeup, especially something like lipstick or foundation, it’s impossible for me to pick a shade without physically trying it on. So this week, while I’m in Asia where Sephora already has a strong presence, it took me no time to make my way to the store and pick up a few things.

One of the items I’d been wanting to buy from Sephora was Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation. If you’ve been around my blog for quite some time you will know that I am a massive fan of BareMinerals Original Foundation, which is a loose powder mineral foundation. I absolutely love the lightweight, barely there feeling on the skin that loose powder foundation gives, compare to liquid foundation. Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation is a loose powder foundation housed in a container with a sifter that allows you to pick up the right amount of foundation by pressing a dense kabuki brush onto the sifter (I also bought Tarte kabuki brush that comes with this foundation) for a mess-free application. I have to say I much prefer this to the BareMinerals foundation, where you have to shake the loose powder onto the lid and things can get pretty messy.

With the kabuki brush, Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation applies effortlessly and blends so seamlessly into the skin, for a beautiful airbrushed finish like the name suggested. The coverage is medium and very natural-looking, with a hint of healthy luminosity. Because it is powered by Amazonian clay, Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation is moisture-rich and creamy and buffs on smoothly without settling into any fine lines or wrinkles. Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation is supposed to provide waterproof, 12-hour coverage and I can honestly say it really does stay on throughout the entire day.

This is a great one for those who dislike the feeling of liquid foundation on their skin and prefer something more lightweight for dailywear. The foundation looks and feels undectatable, and despite it being a powder, doesn’t emphasise pores, fine lines or wrinkles throughout its wear time.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation retails for £34 on QVC and comes with the kabuki brush, which I think is an amazing bargain. Alternatively you can also order from Sephora ($36 for foundation and $28 for kabuki brush) if you are also buying something else (I think your order must add up to a certain amount before they can be shipped to the UK). The only downside of buying online is that you might end up getting the wrong shade match, but if you know your shade then I guess you’re good to go.
